Camden Vicinage to Hold Opening of Court and Memorial Ceremony

The Camden Vicinage and the Camden County Bar Association will conduct an opening ceremony for the new court year and a memorial service on Monday, Sept. 16 for members and former members of the bar association who passed away during the prior court year.

The public ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 63 at the Hall of Justice, 101 S. 5th St., Camden.

Assignment Judge Deborah Silverman Katz will preside over the ceremony, with bar association officers and trustees coordinating the presentations. This year, attendees will honor former Gov. James J. Florio, Superior Court Judge Lee B. Laskin, Municipal Court Judges Michael Diamond and Teofilo Montanez, and attorneys Edward N. Adourian, Jr., Ira Back, Stephen Dumser, Peter P. Green, Philip Kirchner, Norman E. Lehrer, Ira Rabkin, and William E. Reifsteck.

“With this ceremony, the Judiciary and members of the bar will celebrate the lives of these departed members and recognize the importance and integrity of our legal system,” Judge Silverman Katz said.

A reception provided by the bar association will follow the ceremony.
