Ocean Vicinage to Hold Law Day Celebration

The Ocean Vicinage, in partnership with the Ocean County Bar Association, will hold its 65th annual Law Day ceremony on Wednesday, May 1 at noon in Historic Courtroom 1 of the Ocean County Courthouse, 118 Washington St., Toms River.

The theme for the hour-long event is “Voices of Democracy.” ACLU-NJ staff attorney Liza Weisberg will give the keynote address and the students of the mock trial team from the Academy of Law and Public Safety in Waretown will be recognized for their 2024 victory.

The bar association will present the Claire M. Calinda Memorial Achievement Award, the John Hoffman Memorial Young Lawyer Award, the Citizenship Award, and the Excellence in the Administration of Justice Award.

“The Ocean County Bar Association is excited for this year’s Law Day celebration. In addition to bringing our county and legal community together to reflect on the rule of law, we are also looking forward to honoring the recipients of this year’s Law Day awards,” said Adam Steuerman, chair of the event for the bar association.

Law Day is a national event established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958 as “a day of national dedication to the principles of government under law.”
