Morris/Sussex Vicinage to Hold Graduation Ceremony for Morris Recovery Court Participants

The Morris/Sussex Vicinage will hold a graduation ceremony for five participants of the recovery court program in Morris County on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 W. Hanover Ave., Morris Plains and livestreamed at https://www.njcourts.gov/public/channels.

Superior Court Judge Robert M. Hanna will preside over a ceremony that will acknowledge the participants’ achievements in recovery.

The keynote speaker is Michael Frank, a recovery court graduate and founder of the Excel Treatment Center, an outpatient treatment substance use treatment facility. Frank and his wife Rose, a certified addictions registered nurse, founded The Milestone House, a recovery residence in Dover in 2002.

The Judiciary’s recovery court program operates within the Superior Court to address nonviolent drug-related cases. The rigorous program requires completion of five phases of drug and alcohol treatment that includes intensive probation supervision, frequent drug testing, and virtual court appearances. This level of supervision permits the program to support the recovery process but also allows supervisors to react quickly to impose appropriate therapeutic sanctions or to reinstate criminal proceedings when participants do not comply.

The recovery court program in Morris County has 90 participants.

For more information about the vicinage’s recovery court program or the commencement ceremonies, contact Morris Recovery Court Coordinator Migdaris Lennon at 862-397-5700, ext. 75238.
