Passaic Vicinage to Celebrate National Adoption Day

The Passaic Vicinage will celebrate National Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 17. 

Family Division Judge Scott Bennion will preside over the adoptions. Assignment Judge Rudolph Filko and Family Presiding Judge Yolanda Adrianzen will give opening remarks and Passaic County Surrogate Zoila Cassanova will speak.

A reception will follow the proceedings at 4 p.m. at Dave & Buster’s in the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne.

Staff from the vicinage’s family division, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), and the Surrogate’s Office will assist with the festivities. The event also will celebrate children adopted earlier in 2023. Each child in attendance will receive a gift provided by DCP&P, the surrogate’s office, the Passaic County Bar Association, and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Passaic County. 

National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states come together to finalize thousands of adoptions and to celebrate families who choose to adopt. The vicinage established its adoption celebration in 2007. 
 
Although adoption proceedings are closed to the public, reporters and photographers are invited to attend the celebration event at Dave & Buster’s, where families who have agreed to be interviewed or photographed will be available.
