Middlesex Vicinage to Celebrate National Adoption Day
The Middlesex Vicinage will celebrate National Adoption Day on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Middlesex County Courthouse, 56 Paterson St., New Brunswick.
Adoption proceedings for three families will begin at 9 a.m. Presiding Family Division Judge Deborah J. Venezia will officiate.
Following the proceedings, a ceremony will be held in Courtroom 201, where Assignment Judge Michael A. Toto and Judge Venezia will give opening remarks. State Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak will speak, and attorney Jay Mascolo and William Bosso, who both are adoptive parents, also will address the group. E. Martin Davidoff, a trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Foundation, will serve as the master of ceremonies.
National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states come together to finalize thousands of adoptions and celebrate families who adopt. The event seeks to raise awareness of the need for adoptive homes and to show appreciation for caregivers who choose to adopt.
The program is co-hosted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the Middlesex County Board of Commissioners, the Middlesex County Surrogate’s Office, and the Middlesex County Bar Association. The vicinage held its first adoption celebration in 2007.
Information on the adoption process is available by calling 877-NJFOSTER.
