Justice Fabiana Pierre-Louis to Administer Oath of Citizenship at Passaic Vicinage Naturalization Ceremony

New Jersey Supreme Court Associate Justice Fabiana Pierre-Louis will administer the Oath of Citizenship to 37 new citizens during a naturalization ceremony on Wednesday, July 26.

The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on the steps of the Passaic County Courthouse, 71 Hamilton St., Paterson. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the ceremonial courtroom, room 222 on the second floor of the courthouse.

Superior Court Judge Sohail Mohammed will lead the ceremony, sharing his experiences of becoming a naturalized citizen. Other speakers will include Assignment Judge Rudolph A. Filko, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services District Director John E. Thompson, Passaic County Commissioners Director Pat Lepore, Passaic County Bar Association President Jason C. Tuchman, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes, and Deputy Public Defender Johnny Cardona.  

Before the ceremony, Judge Mohammed will give a welcome address. Passaic County Elections Superintendent Shona Mack-Pollock will discuss voters rights and responsibilities, Passaic County Clerk Danielle Ireland-Imhof will speak to the new citizens about U.S. passports, and Jury Manager Maria Vlahos will speak about jury service. The new citizens also will witness a demonstration of the use of a voting machine.  

The ceremony is sponsored by the Passaic Vicinage and the Passaic County Bar Association.
