Notice - Superior Court, Chancery Division, General Equity ("C" Docket) - Attorneys Encouraged to File in eCourts

Effective October 1, 2024, attorneys are encouraged to file all pleadings and other documents in the Superior Court, Chancery Division, General Equity (“C” docket) in the Judiciary’s eCourts system.

Background

The Judiciary’s eCourts system, which is an approved electronic filing and recordkeeping system pursuant to Rule 1:32-2A, has been operational in various divisions since 2014. All New Jersey attorneys in good standing who have completed their Annual Attorney Registration online can use eCourts in case types in which it is available. Attorneys must have a Judiciary Account Charge System (“JACS”) account to electronically file documents that require a fee. Information on establishing a JACS account is available at https://www.njcourts.gov/attorneys/jacs.

Availability of eCourts in General Equity

The eCourts system now supports the filing of all pleadings and other documents in Superior Court, Chancery Division, General Equity (“C” docket) matters. Attorneys are encouraged to file electronically through eCourts using this enhanced functionality rather than through the Judiciary Electronic Document Submission (“JEDS”) system. Self-represented litigants at present should continue to file on paper or file electronically through JEDS.

Guidance on how to file through eCourts is available on the Judiciary’s eCourts Training webpage.

Reminder – Courtesy Copies

When electronically filing a motion, attorneys must simultaneously submit to the judge a paper courtesy copy of all motion-related papers, orders to show cause, and orders as required by Rule 1:6-4 and the June 28, 2017 and 2 October 25, 2022 notices to the bar. Attorneys must clearly indicate “COURTESY COPY” on the first page of each paper provided to the judge.

Questions regarding this notice may be directed to the AOC Civil Practice Division at (609) 815-2900 ext. 54900 or CivilWebSites.Mailbox@njcourts.gov.
