Notice - New Jersey Attorney 2023 Electronic Registration and Payment Available Beginning January 9, 2023; No-Cost Training Offered with CLE Credit.

Notice - New Jersey Attorney 2023 Electronic Registration and Payment Available Beginning January 9, 2023; No-Cost Training Offered with CLE Credit.

New Jersey attorneys must complete their annual registration and payment electronically through the Judiciary's web-based application at https://www.njcourts.gov/attorneys/attorney-registration. The 2023 registration/payment cycle will begin January 9, 2023. The 2023 deadline for completion of registration and payment is February 24, 2023

New Jersey attorneys are required annually to file a registration statement in a form prescribed by the Administrative Director of the Courts with approval of the Supreme Court and to pay an assessment in an amount determined by the Supreme Court. All attorneys must complete their annual attorney registration and pay the required annual fee electronically, except those attorneys who qualify for one of the limited exceptions approved by the Supreme Court.

This notice further informs attorneys that there will be a new information security policy in effect that will require attorneys to use a 14-character password/passphrase to access the web-based application, rather than the current 8-character password. Attorneys are encouraged to create that passphrase prior to the beginning of attorney registration. Additional information about the new password/phase requirements will be provided shortly by a separate notice to the bar. Additionally, beginning with this registration cycle, attorneys may elect to voluntarily provide demographic data to assist the Judiciary in diversity and inclusion initiatives.

The Judiciary through the Superior Court Clerk's Office is offering a number of free training sessions between November 2022 and January 2023 for attorneys on the updated attorney registration application, including the requirements of two-factor authentication and the 14-character passphrase. The training will also include information related to frequently asked questions, information security risks, and demonstration of the attorney registration application. The sessions will be conducted using Microsoft Teams. Attorneys must register in advance. The scheduled training sessions are as follows:
