Notice - May 31, 2023 Public Hearing on Proposed Court Rule Amendments and Committee Reports

The Supreme Court has scheduled an in-person public hearing on Supreme Court Committee reports for Wednesday, May 31, 2023. The hearing, which will be in the Supreme Court courtroom in the Hughes Justice Complex in Trenton, will begin at 10:00 a.m. It will cover the 2021-2023 reports from following six committees that were previously published and posted for comment by notice to the bar dated January 20, 2023: 

(1)    Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution
(2)    Criminal Practice Committee
(3)    Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement
(4)    Committee on the Rules of Evidence
(5)    Family Practice Committee
(6)    Municipal Court Practice Committee

Those reports and recommendations are posted on the Judiciary's Internet website at https://www.njcourts.gov/attorneys/supreme-court-committee-reports. 

Anyone who wishes to speak at the May 31 hearing should so indicate via email sent to Comments.Mailbox@njcourts.gov by Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The request must specify the report and recommendations on which the individual seeks to speak and whether the speaker will be representing an organization. Please note that the time limit on each speaker's presentation will be five minutes. 

The hearing will be live streamed. For those wishing to view the hearing, a link will be posted on the front page of the Judiciary website on the morning of the hearing (https://www.njcourts.gov).
