Stryker Trident Hip Implants - Case Information

Stryker Trident Hip Implants are manufactured by Howmedica Osteonics Corporation, a New Jersey corporation and doing business as Stryker Orthopaedics (hereinafter referred to as "Stryker"). The complaints filed in these matters allege that over the past few years, Stryker has received many complaints from both patients and orthopedists claiming fractures or shattered devices, bone chipping, abnormal bone growth, infection, bone loss, hardware loosening, device failure, posterior impingement, uneven wear, pain, loss of function, loud squeaking or clicking noises and difficulty walking. On Feb. 22, 2008, Stryker announced a recall of two components made under the Trident line. On March 31, 2009, the New Jersey Supreme Court did not designate this litigation as a mass tort. However, it centralized the handling of all pending and future cases involving these implants filed in the New Jersey Superior Court and assigned them to Bergen County to be handled by Judge Rachelle L. Harz.
