What are the qualifications of the people who grade the interpreter exam?

All persons who grade tests must satisfy one or more of the following criteria: A. Federal certification as a court interpreter; B. Ph.D. (or the closest equivalent) in the linguistics of the test’s language; C. Certification as an interpreter by the United Nations; D. Professional interpreter/translator with the highest credentials available for that particularlanguage; E. Practicing court interpreters who have scored at the Master level of the AOC’s test or the equivalent; and/or F. When no one with anyof the credentials listed above is available, anyone who has been otherwise determined to possess the knowledge and skills to perform these duties. All examiners (also called “raters”) are trained and approved by the National Center for State Courts and evaluated carefully to ensure that they follow the established test administration and rating standards.
