Monmouth Vicinage to Host Naturalization Ceremony in Celebration of Flag Day

The Monmouth Vicinage will host a naturalization ceremony for 25 new citizens from 17 countries on Tuesday, June 14 at 12:30 p.m. at the Monmouth County Courthouse.

The ceremony will be conducted in conjunction with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Assignment Judge Lisa Thornton will preside over the ceremony, administer the Oath of Allegiance, and present certificates to the new citizens. Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone will address the assembly. Keith Dorr, supervisory immigration services officer from the USCIS Mount Laurel field office, will facilitate the naturalization process.

Students from the Colts Neck High School Navy Junior ROTC will present the colors. Freehold Borough Intermediate School students will sing the national anthem, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and perform patriotic songs under the direction of school music director Lauren Platt. Howell Middle School North seventh-grade student Oksanya Nyavchuk will give an oral recitation of the Preamble of the United States Constitution.

The ceremony, part of the vicinage’s ongoing annual celebration of Law Day, is being held on June 14 in observance of Flag Day and Juneteenth. The ceremony will briefly highlight the 2022 Law Day theme “The Constitution in Times of Change.”
