Passaic Vicinage to Celebrate Recovery Court Graduates

The Passaic Vicinage will hold a hybrid ceremony for 42 recovery court graduates on Thursday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m. at Passaic County Community College, 1 College Blvd., Paterson.

Recovery Court Judge Miguel de la Carrera will preside. The program also will include remarks from Criminal Division Presiding Judge Sohail Mohammed and a performance by the Rosa Parks High School Concert Choir.

The Judiciary’s recovery court program operates within the Superior Court to address non-violent drug-related cases. The program requires completion of four phases of intensive drug and alcohol treatment and recovery. This level of supervision permits the program to support the recovery process, but also allows the team to react swiftly to impose appropriate therapeutic interventions or to reinstate criminal proceedings when participants do not comply with the program.

Recovery Court programs are rigorous, requiring intensive probation supervision, treatment, frequent drug testing, and regular court appearances.

The college will livestream the ceremony at https://youtu.be/pKsib542a2g.

The vicinage’s recovery court program has more than 500 participants.
