Passaic Vicinage to Celebrate Law Day

The Passaic Vicinage, in partnership with the Passaic County Bar Association, will hold its Law Day celebration on Friday, May 6.

The virtual program will feature a video created by the Passaic Vicinage Law Day Committee that will be made available to middle and high schools in the county the day of the celebration.

The video highlights committee members speaking to students on this year’s Law Day theme, “Toward a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change,” and the importance of the celebration.

State Assemblywoman Shavonda E. Sumter, the keynote speaker, will address the students. Prior to her video presentation, students submitted questions to Sumter that were asked during the presentation.

Throughout the past several months, middle and high school students in Passaic County participated in the annual Law Day contest by submitting posters, poetry, and videos highlighting this year’s theme, Contest winners will be announced at the end of the Law Day video. Students with winning submissions will receive trophies along with certificates of honorable mention.

The Law Day program is sponsored by the Passaic County Bar Association and the vicinage’s Law Day Committee, which is chaired by Superior Court Judge LaToyia Jenkins.
