Hudson Vicinage to Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

In celebration of Asian American / Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Hudson Vicinage will host a program titled “Urban Oasis: Living Between Two Continents,” on Friday, May 26 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Area, Room 400 of the Administration Building, 595 Newark Ave., Jersey City.

The event will feature a presentation by Dr. Xurong Kong, associate professor and director of Chinese and Asian Studies at Kean University. Dr. Kong will discuss the local and global influences of the increasing population of Asian-Americans, with a focus on Chinese American communities. Through descriptions of personal experiences and academic study, Dr. Kong will provide an in depth narrative on the current and future states of urban development.

The program, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the vicinage’s Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Advisory Committee. Registration is not required.
