Notice – Supreme Court Committees – Updated Name and Charge for Committee on Gender in the Courts (Formerly Women in the Courts)

Notice – Supreme Court Committees – Updated Name and Charge for Committee on Gender in the Courts (Formerly Women in the Courts)

The Supreme Court has renamed its Committee on Women in the Courts as the Committee on Gender in the Courts and asked it to engage in an expanded exploration of gender-related issues.

With this expanded focus, the Committee will examine how gender intersects with race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, culture, and systems of belief. The Committee will continue to consider issues facing women in the law, including obstacles that may have become easier to navigate for educated white women while remaining difficult for women of color, women with less formal education, and women living in poverty.

The Court renews its request for application for potential candidates to contribute to the evolving work of the Committee. Attorneys and members of the public interested in being considered by the Court for appointment should send an email to Comments.mailbox@njcourts.gov, including the applicant's full name, address, email address, telephone number( s ), attorney ID (if applicable), resume or link to an online bio, and a 2-3 sentence explanation as to why the applicant wants to participate in the Committee on Gender in the Courts.

Questions about Supreme Court Committees should be directed to the Office of the Administrative Director at (609) 376-3000.
