2023-2025 Supreme Court Rules Committee Reports – Publication for Comment - Comments Requested by March 21, 2025

The Supreme Court invites written comments on the 2023-2025 reports of four of its Rules committees for this rules cycle. In those reports, the committees (as listed below) make numerous recommendations to the Supreme Court for rule amendments and other non-rule administrative actions. As noted previously, the Court has staggered the reporting cycles of its standing committees, such that approximately half submit their respective reports each year.
The four committees whose 2023-2025 reports are published with this notice for comment are as follows:

(1) Criminal Practice Committee
(2) Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement
(3) Family Practice Committee
(4) Municipal Court Practice Committee

The Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution and the Committee on the Rules of Evidence, both of which also are part of this cycle, did not submit reports for 2023-2025.

These reports are also available for review and downloading on the Judiciary’s website at https://www.njcourts.gov/attorneys/supreme-court-committee-reports.

Please send any comments on the Committees’ proposed rule amendments or other recommendations in writing by Friday, March 21, 2025 to:

Hon. Glenn A. Grant, J.A.D.
Acting Administrative Director of the Courts Administrative Office of the Courts
Attn: Rules Comments (2023-2025)
Hughes Justice Complex;
P.O. Box 037
Trenton, New Jersey 08625-0037

Comments on the Committee reports and recommendations may also be submitted by e-mail to the following address: Comments.Mailbox@njcourts.gov.

The Supreme Court will not consider comments submitted anonymously. Thus, those submitting comments by mail should include their name and address (and those submitting comments by e-mail should include their name and e-mail address). Comments are subject to public disclosure upon receipt.

The Supreme Court will conduct a public hearing on these reports on May 28, 2025 and will be acting on the reports and recommendations in June-July, with any rule amendments to become effective September 1, 2025. A separate notice to the bar regarding the Rules Hearing will issue at a later date.
