The Information Technology Office (ITO) was created in 1985 to bring computerization to all areas of the court system. This program was based upon the recommendations of the Supreme Court Committee on Efficiency in the Operations of the Courts of New Jersey. The findings of this Committee were that the labor intensive nature of routine document processing within the court system and many of the administrative operations indicated substantial opportunities for automation, and in some cases lend themselves easily to automation. The computerization program was to devise and plan a means of developing, coordinating and implementing automated information systems that would satisfy the needs to improve and streamline court management and operations.
